Bread Ahead Harpenden is the first bakery outside London from Bread Ahead, the bakery founded at Borough Market in 2013 by Matthew Jones and known for its doughnuts. It opens at 92–94 High Street on Monday 12 October 2026, in the double-fronted shop that was once Jacksons.
Across around 2,500 sq ft on two floors, the ground floor has a bakery counter and all-day café serving sourdough and breads, pastries and doughnuts, with breakfast, brunch, lunch and coffee. Upstairs, a classroom will host baking workshops and private hire, with classes due to start in January 2027.
