Festival on the Field is one of Harpenden’s best-loved family festivals, bringing together live music, entertainment, food and community fundraising in a relaxed outdoor setting. Held on the playing fields of Sir John Lawes School, the biennial event has built a strong reputation as a high-quality family festival attracting thousands of mostly local visitors.
Organised by the parents’ organisations of Sir John Lawes School and Manland Primary School, Festival on the Field is a volunteer-run fundraising event that supports local schools while creating a fun and welcoming experience for families across Harpenden. Since launching, the festival has raised more than £120,000 for both schools.
Visitors can enjoy a full day of live entertainment featuring tribute acts, headline performances and family-friendly music alongside a wide range of food and drink options. The festival includes licensed bars, real ale, cocktails and food stalls designed to cater for a variety of tastes, helping create a lively yet family-focused atmosphere.
Held every other year at Sir John Lawes Playing Fields in Harpenden, Festival on the Field continues to be one of the town’s standout community events, combining live music, local spirit and fundraising in a safe and enjoyable environment for all ages.
