GTR, short for Grand Trunk Road, is a modern Indian restaurant and takeaway at 72 High Street, Harpenden, run by the Papa J’s group. It takes its name from the ancient trade route across South Asia, and the menu puts a fusion twist on dishes from along the way.
Highlights include Chatpata wings, Chicken 65, Chicken Chettinad, Avocado Bombay Bhel and a Cheesecake Gulab Jamun for dessert, alongside favourites such as chicken tikka masala. Vegetarian choices such as chilli paneer and dhal are popular, and there is a cocktail list.
You can eat in, collect or order delivery through GTR’s own website. It opens for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday and is closed on Mondays.
